Welcome to The School for Heroes

Famous Adventurer here.

Welcome to the Famous Adventurer's Correspondence School for Heroes. Here we guide you to find your inner hero. You will discover new truths about yourself and your beliefs. You will learn to act as you have always dreamed that you could. You will create the future you want to live.

How, you ask? Excellent Question!

We all learn by doing. Unfortunately, most educational facilities seem to neglect that critical fact. Most schools teach facts and theories rather than practical application. Most schools spend more time trying to mold you into proper students than they do teaching you how to learn. Here, at the School for Heroes, we don't try to clutter your mind with facts. We don't try to make you better students and order you to stop chewing gum. We don't have to.

You see, the people at our school WANT to be here. They all WANT to be heroes.

All we have to do is show them the way.

However, there are many, many ways to become a Hero. Every person has his own Hero's Journey to travel through life.

Our goal is to help you find your Hero's Journey.

You are Not Alone

Your Journey is long and difficult. Being a Hero is not easy. There will be many hardships to face and obstacles to surmount. You will fight the terrible monsters of Despair, Apathy, Fear, and Failure. You will have to plod onward despite the heavy chains of doubt and disillusionment. And, hardest of all, you will have to come face to face with your own failings.

You are not alone. There are many who also walk their own lonely paths through life. They fight their own inner demons. They struggle to create their own dreams and help others life theirs.

Our school gathers these weary want-to-be Heroes from across the lands and worlds. There are many just like you who want to make the world a better place. Here, we share our victories. Here, we share our defeats. Here, we inspire each of us to prevail despite all the difficulties.

We are all Heroes

Hero is more than just a title bestowed upon someone because he did something right. Being a Hero means to live your life as if everything you do will make a difference in the lives of those around you. It means believing in the inherent goodness in mankind (and all sentient creatures). It means believing in yourself and what you can do.

We here at the school believe in the power of Heroism to change the future. We believe that everyone should do what they can to support one another and save those who are overwhelmed by life's difficulties. We believe that everyone can be a Hero.

We believe in You.

May your life always be Heroic!

Way of the Warrior

Way of the Warrior

Instructor: Captain Mombera MacGillicuddy

Warriors are the leaders and the doers who have the vision to shape the future.

Mombera knows what it takes to be a warrior. Born in the Simbani village on the plains of Tarna, he grew up with the rites and customs of his mother’s people. He then traveled in many lands until he came to the land of his father - the Heelands. There, he served for four years as Captain in the Heeland Free Clans of New Albion. His experience and wisdom will guide our warriors to glory.

“To get where you want to go, you have to know where you want to go. To build the future you want to live, You have to know what you want that future to be. Your future begins today.” - Mombera

Hero - with a Heart!

Circle of Paladins

Instructor: Moira Glenshannon

Paladins are those individuals who are willing to take a stand to change the world around them for the better.

Moira Glenshannon had only heard of Paladins in Bard's songs while she was growing up. Paladins were the Heroes of stories - people who took it as their goal in life to right the wrongs and make the world a better place. Paladins seemed like dreamers who had little notion of what life was really like. Real life was about helping your neighbor build his barn, speaking up for those who could not speak, bringing food to the sick. It was about teaching a child to fish or putting an oatmeal compress on a horse's wound to ease the inflammation and pain. You do those things because they need doing. The world didn't need a hero - people need heroes.

So Moira was quite surprised to learn that real Paladins do exactly those sorts of things in real life. She discovered that she was a true Paladin. Are you one?

"Paladins must learn to trust their own judgment and do what they know should be done in any situation. You will know what is the right thing to do if you follow your heart." - Moira

Band of Bards

Band of Bards

Instructor: Lorenzo Lafcadio

A Bard is someone who uses his or her artistic talents to communicate ideas and ideals, inspiring the audience as well as entertaining them.

The Newest Addition to our School, The Great Lorenzo is a name renowned in the entertainment field. From the courts of Albion to the palaces of the merchant princes of Nova Roma, Lorenzo has sung ballads and told stories that bring kings and countrymen to tears and laughter.

"To capture an audience and hold it in thrall, you must tell the tale or sing the song as if you were creating it just for them. Your words transport your audience to places they have never seen. You music touches their hearts and teaches them to care for the characters of your stories. A Bard does not merely perform for his audience - he inspires and enriches the people who gather around him. A Bard brings hope, compassion, and reminds everyone that heroism lives in our souls." - Lorenzo

The School for Heroes

High upon the rocky cliffs above the waters of the Med Sea on the island of Marete, stands the School for Heroes. Classes are held in a stately castle manor imported from distant Albion. Its stone walls once housed knights and nobles - now they are the home for heroes.

"The School for Heroes is located just east of the booming metropolis of Silmaria on the beautiful island of Marete. We revel in the balmy (if sometimes wet) and bright (except when it is foggy) climate ideal for outdoor activities year round (except during the rainy season)."
