It has been a while since I took the time to complete an assignment. I guess I have found nothing to write about for the assignments I have available. I wanted to write something interesting and reflective regarding the turning of the decade, but the tragedy in Haiti changed my prerogatives.
Much has been said about Haiti already – the loss of life and the situation of the survivors are heartbreaking. I consider it callous to say anymore on it since I have no first-hand knowledge of the events unfolding there. What I wish to say, however, is that if you have not taken the time to read any of the personal comments of those on the ground, I implore you to do so now.
Below is a list – incomplete as it may be – of websites offering a tiny glimpse of the tragedy at hand and the hope that remains. The Haitian people are like any people on this world. They have hopes, dreams, failures, and needs. Right now, they need our thoughts and support. As an American, I know my relationship with Haiti has been fractious, but I am seizing this moment to do my small part to alleviate that relationship. If you have discovered other relevant links, please share them within the comments.
Thank you for reading fellow heroes-in-training.
