The Wonders of the World Await You!

Greetings and welcome to your opportunity to become the Hero you were meant to be.

Spring Thing

Ars HeroicaIt will soon be the merry, magical month of May. New life springs forth afresh from the soil, the birds return from their Southern sojourns, and the weather turns wonderful. It doesn’t get much better than this.

In fact, Spring reminds me of the time I spent on the East Fricana veldt, shooing away charging rhinos and cavorting with drunken aardvarks. There’s nothing quite like a night out in the wild plains to make you fully alive. Unless, of course, a herd of rhinos or wild elephants happen to stomp your tent flatter than a pancake while you’re asleep. Or if a hungry lion happens to wander into your camp. Jungle journeys aren’t for everyone.

The Newest Ars Heroica

Speaking of everyone, the school newspaper, Ars Heroica, is off to a great start thanks to your contributions. I’ve had the development Gnomes make a small change so that you can always answer any of the school-wide assignments. This means that you can always do the Ars Heroica assignment to submit a new article. We do hope you’ll do that early and often so that we never run out of quality articles for your newspaper. Have something useful to say to your fellow student Heroes? Send it in!

School Statistics

Almost 800 people have taken the hero test so far. That leaves several billion who haven’t. Tell your friends about the site and get them to take the test and find out what kinds of heroes they are. About one in five potential heroes go on to complete at least the first Mission and become official students in The School for Heroes. One in five of those have made it to Rank 2 or higher. So far our Paladins are the most likely to complete their first mission, and Disbarred Bards the least likely. The latter could have as much to do with the difficulty of their first mission as with the personality type that places students in that class.

There is no shortcut to Heroism. We aren’t here to make things easy, just to open a door to help some of you find the way through to the Halls of the Heroes. I’m personally delighted that so many of you have taken that opportunity already, and I hope to see many more of you push on to the upper ranks. We are looking forward to the day when we will need to expand our staff because there are more Heroes than we can handle.

Up and Coming Projects

Several exciting projects are under discussion in the root beer bars of Silmaria – Books, games, and feature films are all possibilities. These are all in the early stages, so it will be some time before we will know which possibilities will become real and which will remain fleeting ideas of the imagination. You and I and fate will each play a part.

Until next time, remember that a Hero is as a Hero does. In whatever small way, when you see a chance to do something for the Greater Good, don’t stop to think, just do it! Every act of Good does a little more to push back the Darkness.
